FP frenzy

I don’t know what it is with me this week, but I’m on a FP spree. I can’t stop! The real problem is that I don’t want to…

I finally pulled the trigger on the Morning Glory Chiffon Skirt. It’s sooo pretty! My first thought when I saw it was that it would make a fantastic dress. Once I saw it worn that way on Sweet Lasses, I knew it had to be mine.

After FP cancelled my Solid Tuxedo Cami order, I was uber disappointed. I whined about it on the fb page & so they referred me to a couple of stores that still had my size (their fb team is the best… always helpful!). So, I’m a happy girl once again. It’s on the way. :)

Melon is now sold out on FP’s site, but it’s still available at Nordstrom. Unfortunately it’s still full price though. Boo!

tuxedo

After buying it for my mom & seeing how cute it was on her, I had to get the Aphrodite Cami. It’s so flowy & pretty! I scored it on Karmaloop for $32 (originally retailed at $98!). It’s listed at $40.95, but use code CLINTON for 20% off.

Another great deal I got was the Drapeaholic Top on eBay. It’s selling on FP’s site for $98, but I scored it for $31 shipped. It doesn’t have the greatest reviews, so fingers crossed it works for me.

I literally just finished up purchasing this Smocked Printed Bandeau on FP’s site. It’s going to be perfect under the greatest maxi dress of all time (more info to follow).

Lastly, my super awesome mom bought me the Sleeveless Printed Cowl Tunic for St. Patty’s Day (yes, I’m spoiled). I LOVE it! It is so flattering! I see myself wearing this to work with black cropped dress pants or leggings.

Hopefully I’m done hemorrhaging money for the week. Until next weekend that is, when I do some hardcore shopping in Nashville.

lust list: wedges

Shoes are like comfort food to me. If I’m feeling fat, I go shoe shopping. It doesn’t matter how much weight I gain, I can count on wearing a size 7 & don’t have to wonder if my shoes from last year will still fit. They always stick with me, no matter how much me there is.

Boots are probably my number one shoe love, but wedges come in a close second. I’m LOVING that platforms have become a wedge staple, but the downside is that the average heel height is now coming in at 5 inches. 4 inches I can do; 5 is a bit daunting. I am very clumsy & I really don’t want to break my face anytime soon.

Here are the wedges that currently have me salivating. It’s my hope that I’ll own all of these by summer. Although, this list will likely become obsolete by tomorrow…

image

Dolce Vita Jade

It’s not a matter of if I will own these, it’s when will I own these. I think they’re just different enough from Pela that I can justify having both.

image

MICHAEL Michael Kors Nora

Love this color! So far I’ve only been able to find it at Bloomingdale’s & of course they’re already sold out of 6.5 & 7. Sigh.

image

Nine West Bottos

I’m thinking I finally need to own a pair of espadrilles. This green color is to die for!

image

Jeffrey Campbell Bed of Roses (via FP)

I’m pretty sure I need these in my life. Also, I think the 2 inch platform might greatly reduce the risk of face breakage.

image

House of Harlow 1960 Veronica

At $240 these babies are a bit out of my price range, but they’re soooo beautiful… I just had to include them.

I did purchase one pair of wedges over the weekend: the Lovely People Bonnie wedge in cognac. I don’t know if I’m in love with them by picture alone. I was drawn to the color & the pebbling of the leather, but the price is what made them impossible to pass up. They retailed for $139.95 & I snagged them on Amazon for $41.99. They’re due to arrive today, so I shall soon know if they were truly a good deal.

black whale

I’ve been on the hunt for a solid black maxi dress since sometime last summer, but hadn’t found “the one.” The FP Sleeveless Wonder Wong Dress was my first attempt in 2011. Well, it most definitely did not work out for me. It was HORRID. Horrid as in, I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing it in public. It hung off me & made me look like one giant, black blob. I wasn’t planning on posting any pictures of it, but since I’m talking about it I’ll give you a little looksee.

image

Yeeeeaaaah. Yuck!

So, the search had to go on. I headed over to ShopStyle & began to sift through pages of black maxi dresses. I checked out several, but nothing I felt the urge to buy. Then I saw the Elle™ Ruffle Maxi from Kohl’s.

elle_ruffle_maxi

I really liked the little ruffle at the bust & I really, really liked the price of $41.99 (on sale from $60), so I decided to give it a shot. I had no idea I’d fall madly in love!

The best part of all? No hemming required! Being 5’4”ish, that NEVER happens!

Overall, I’m VERY happy with this purchase. It’s a bit heavier than I expected, but I don’t think I’ll overheat when I wear it in Nawlins. That reminds me, it will be perfect for packing… no wrinkles! Ahhh, could this dress be any more perfect?!

lookalikes: dolce vita pela wedges (updated 4.12.11)

If you love Dolce Vita’s Pela wedges (I know I do; I own them in black, brown & grey!), but don’t want to pay $165, you have options. For those that do not require Italian leather, DV by Dolce Vita’s Pali wedge is a great alternative to Pela. They’re still leather, but retail for a much more bearable $90.

I bought Pali in black for my mom (she was lusting after my Pela sandals) & she loves them!

pela_black pali_black

For those that do not require they be leather at all, Elle’s Libbie wedge from Kohl’s is an even less expensive option. They retail at $69.99, but are currently on sale for $44.99. Libbie only comes in brown.

UPDATE: Check out this post for a more in depth comparison of Pela & Pali.

saturday splurge

I’ve had my eye on J Brand’s Gigi cropped jeans for awhile now. I finally broke down today & bought them in Pure from Revolve. Typically J Brand is excluded from Revolve’s promo codes, but I found one that works on all brands. It’s CANDY & gets you 10% off.

gigi pure

If I love them, I’ll probably pick up Murphy as well.

lookalike: anthropologie chantico tank

I just spotted a doppelganger of Bailey 44’s much-loved Chantico Tank from last year. It retailed for $88 at Anthropologie. Tinley Road’s version from Piperlime retails for a more budget-friendly price of $29.

image image

It also comes in a great shade of lavender!

lookalike: FP peace for fleece / ruffled corset jacket

ModCloth has a long-sleeved version of one of my favorite Free People jackets. It’s called the Great Lunch Break Blazer & it’s on their Cozy Up Sale for $48.99.

I absolutely adore my Peace for Fleece Jackets! I found a couple pictures of them from last year. Sorry for the crappy quality!

PSA: FP engineered crochet tunic on sale at macy’s!

Macy’s has the Engineered Crochet Tunic & it’s marked down to $74.99 on their One Day Sale! They have ivory and black in all sizes!

Click HERE to go snatch it up!

Ah, if only I’d waited a few days to order it. Isn’t that the way it always goes?

lookalike: anthropologie aniseed skirt

The moment I stepped into Maurices yesterday, my eye was drawn to this dress. I recognized its skirt right away. It’s a dead ringer for Eva Franco’s Aniseed skirt from Anthropologie, which retailed for $128 & is now sold out. The Maurices dress retails for $34.

Had it not made me look huge from the back, I might’ve taken it home with me. I think it would probably work better on someone with a little less hip going on.

weekend flare-up

My shopping sickness got the best of me this past weekend. I’m so tired of the cold & snow, so I bought some spring/summer clothing to make myself feel better. Here’s what I ended up with:

image

FP Engineered Crochet Tunic

I had a 20% coupon & a $50 gift card to Macy’s, so I ended up getting it for $40!

image

FP Perfect Paradigm Seamless Tube in Bordeaux

I think this could potentially look really cute layered under the Engineered Crochet Tunic. I scored it on 6pm for $12!

image

FP Sleeveless Wonder Wong Dress

I usually try not to buy at full price, but $78 doesn’t hurt too bad. It looks sooo comfy!

image

ModCloth Fluid Dynamics Dress in Hydro

I told you it was a sure thing! :)

image

ModCloth Budding Ambition Dress

The bf really liked this one & since it was on their Cozy Up Sale, I decided I ought to give it a try. Free shipping ($100+) & returns, so why not?

 image

RD Style Floral Model Tank

I’ve been eyeing this since Piperlime featured it in their “Girl on a Budget” email. It’s only $26!

I got some good deals, so I’m not feeling too bad about spending the $$$.

OOTD: mad for plaid

I’m about to head out to a local bar where a friend of mine is singing tonight. I was in the mood to put together something cute for the occasion…

000_0076

In this outfit:

Free People Ivory Coast Cardi in Marine

MM Couture Plaid Chiffon Ruffle Dress

BDG Stretch Belt in Brown

HUE Opaque Control Top Tights in Navy

STEVEN by Steve Madden Intyce Boots in Cognac

This has got to be one of my favorite dresses. You can’t go wrong with ruffles & plaid. I scored it on eBay NWT for $10 + free shipping! It retailed for about $100. I f-ing love eBay!

orlando, i love you

I’m going to a Photoshop conference next month in Orlando, which I’m pretty excited about. I had no idea what I was going to do with my free time though. When I think of Orlando, I think of Disney characters & dolphins. I probably should’ve known better, but I haven’t been there in about 12 years. I guess I just haven’t put much thought into that city since then.

So, I checked out Google Maps & to my delight, I discovered that my hotel is nestled between TWO premium outlet malls! Not only that, but there’s another mall about 13 minutes away that has an Anthropologie and an Urban Outfitters! Good thing the convention center has a UPS store; I’m gonna need it.

Now when I think of Orlando, I’m going to think of super crazy awesome shopping!
